Thought Blinding Extremism

Spread out all around everywhere can be seen

In the speech and actions meted towards other men

The culture of love and goodwill gone stranger  

The terror of extremism spouting sheer danger:

Draught of conscience, overburdened concerns deep within,

Ideological cohesion is nowhere to be seen;

Terror seems to have overtaken the mind

Contentment and peace have gone forgotten;

Anxiety has ushered the diseases known and unknown

inflicting damages to wealth, will, body and bone. 

Highly self-conceited, excessive in pride,

zero in humility, arrogant in self praise;

Stubbornly competitive, agreeable to none,

Garnering satisfaction in trampling over others;

Taking immoral pleasure in amassing looted property, 

Counting progress and prosperity in the figures of looted booty.

Deep rooted greed percolating through speech and behavior,

Aiming to accumulate everything in sight by snatching from others;

Perpetually lustful in look, language and expression,

Ever lurking to devour others property even by annihilating them;

So much degradation in thought and morality here,

Owing to the blinding damages inflicted by extremism.  

Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment.

अन्तर्मनको उज्यालो

In Nepalese Language

मानिस सृष्टिकर्ताको कारिगरी 

कर्ताको सृष्टिमा अनेकन थरी

मानिस सबैको बनाइयो प्रहरी 

अनि उ रह्यो कर्ताको सहचरी। 

भावनाको आकर्षणमा नर-नारी

मानिस सुन्दरतम उत्कृष्ट ठहरी

कर्ताको ज्योतिको विवेकले भरी

कार्यभार दिइयो ‘बन्नु आज्ञाकारी’।

अगमलाई देख्ने आँखा हो विवेक

दीप हो विवेक दृश्य पार्ने प्रत्येक 

विवेक बोधो भए अन्योल अभेक 

उज्यालो निभेमा अँध्यारो अनेक।

छर्लङ्ग सत्य सर्वत्र सृष्टिद्वारा प्रदत्त  

कर्ताको कार्यमा छ प्रमाण व्याप्त 

विवेकहीनलाई सबै सत्य छ लुप्त

Creation Overpowering the Creator – A Deception

(English version of the original Nepalese language post कृतिले कर्ता छिचोलेको भ्रम)

The day the creation overpowered the creator

The day the material overtook the maker

The day the pot wheeled the potter  

The day the moon hid the sun 

The day of mid-day eclipse – the dark day 

The day of deception that the darkness had won over the light 

Oh no! How come I got deceived 

Deception empowered, lost the straight sight 

How to call the darkness a day – it’s a night 

A time of blinding darkness – a night 

Unable to see the self – so dark a night 

A night of fooling pride of deceptive knowledge 

A night of ignorant state of deception 

A night where the darkness is identified as illumination

But a tiny firefly tears down a huge mass of darkness 

A passing eclipse cannot deny the pervading power of the sun

Light need not chase out the darkness, it automatically disappears 

The night the pot wheeled the potter 

The night the material overtook the maker 

The night the creation overpowered the creator 

The night humans analysed God

Let’s hope the night disappears at the dawn 

The warm light illuminates the vision clear 

Deception of night succumbs to the light of truth 

Then the celebration of joy ushers – 

The day the pot submitted to the potter

The day the material uplifted the maker

The day the creation praised the creator

The day humans worshiped God

Why Question The ‘What’ Question?

(English version of the original Nepalese language post प्रश्न के? प्रश्न किन?)

There are questions, plenty of them, but confusions as well in plenty – 

how to present the question, what to say, in which format.

Scribes of varieties of scriptures are in plenty, 

abundance of replies queue up even before the question is completed, 

but there is an acute shortage of answers. 

Abundant replies didn’t answer the question, question hasn’t even been addressed, 

status quo continued, answer remained a far off  stranger.

Scribes of the scriptures presented their self contemplated explanations on the subject matters 

just only for their own satisfaction, no care for the inquirer’s question.

Found out many teachers who love to lecture on the knowledge of their own likes, 

but none to give ear to the inquiry of the inquisitor. 

Life or a series of lives? What? How? By whom? (By What?) Why? 

For Whom? (For What?) Where from? From What? What First? What After? 

Questions to no end, mind disturbing, confusions piling up quickly, 

inquisitor lost in finding a teacher, teachers’ pick up easy followers.

Serious thinker looked up and down, inside out, all around in deep thought, 

wondering impartially got to some vague picture,

– There has to be somebody or something, 

establishing the perfect plans and meticulous running systems 

of celestial structures in geometrical accuracy and vibrant earth bearing the continuity of life.

This thought bringing some consolation on the burning question, 

the thinker attempted to give a name to that somebody or something,

To give a name to his thought he needed a word in his voice, 

and took a deep breath in and breathed out an audible air from the depth of his living heart 

– Oohhhhh, a word coined by the thinker, now said God.

The creator of all creation created the conscious men, 

they utilized the same consciousness to identify the creator with a name, 

In different times, as per the need of the situations, 

in accordance with their understanding and backgrounds, 

the created beings gave various names to the creator. 

Not only names, they even gave looks, colors, shapes and sizes; 

also allotted place, boundary, background and family; 

even painted with the emotions of anger and grace,

The feeble worked hard to please the fearsome due to scare, 

the greedy praised the provider with flairs of flattery songs, 

named innumerably as male and female, as father and mother, 

single creator decorated with many names.

Various places, varieties of names, disunity soured the unity of thought; 

due to the very act of naming of the creator of all 

A chasm entered in the society assembled in unity by the unseen God, 

differences set in as mine and thine, 

the giving of name became the very reason for communal division. 

The original question remains as it was, has not moved a bit:

Life or a series of lives? What? How? By whom? (By What?) Why? 

For Whom? (For What?) Where from? From What? What First? What After?   

Questions to no end, mind disturbing, confusions piling up quickly, 

inquisitor lost in finding a teacher, teachers’ pick up easy followers.

Answer seeking thinkers were trying to take pleasure in the self coined name, 

but the society got divided by allotting multiple looks and qualities to the same name.

Every divided section defined its coterie as per its own speciality, 

divisive groups were formed in the name of uniting God,

Every group kept a select name for itself – this religion, that religion, 

the righteous word “religion” acquired a very bad reputation.

Irreligion, non-religion, bad religion, mean religion, sprouted plentifully; 

pity that the original meaning of the  prestigious word “religion” went to oblivion.

In the many religions established in the veracities of thoughts, 

the name God remained limited only in slogans, 

the very creator of all was put in place by the created,

No care about the all caring God, has been kept neglected; 

divisive selfish religions started dominating, getting stronger, the religion ruled. 

Thought about God got oblivious, preaching of religion held the day, 

preaching became a lucrative profession of honour, 

trading entered in, treachery infiltrated, power ruled; religion went to war.

In the name of compassionate God, 

the arrogant religious zealots constituted rules and regulations, 

huge volumes of scriptures were put in place with exaggerated, self-benefiting interpretations, 

Rulers were appointed to enforce religious rules,

 judges to ensure adherence to the rules 

and scribes to open and explain the scripturized rules.

Therefore, with the passing of time, as the religious groups accumulated power, 

power was preferred, God got shelved, religion recognized,

Misled men in ignorance, stood for religion instead of God, started vouching for religion,

 in the pride of selfish religiosity got lost under the pile of unrighteousness. 

Albeit, the original question remains as it was, has not moved a bit:

Life or a series of lives? What? How? By whom? (By What?) Why? 

For Whom? (For What?) Where from? From What? What First? What After?

कृतिले कर्ता छिचोलेको भ्रम

(In Nepalese Language)

कृतिले कर्ता छिचोलेको दिन 

सृजनाले सर्जक उछिनेको दिन 

माटोले कुमालेलाई उधिनेको दिन 

चन्द्रले सूर्यलाई लुकाइदिएको दिन 

मध्यदिनको ग्रहणको दिन – कालो दिन 

उज्यालो माथि विजय हासिल गरेको भ्रम भएको दिन 

होइन होइन म पनि कस्तो झुक्किएछु 

भ्रमले गाँजेछ, दिगभ्रमित भएछु 

कालोलाई कसरी भन्नु दिन – त्यो त रात 

निष्पट अन्धकारको समय – रात 

आफ्नै काया देख्न नसकिने अँध्यारो रात 

भ्रमित ज्ञानको घमण्डमा मूर्ख बनेको रात 

आफ्नो भ्रमित अवस्थाको हेक्का नभएको रात 

निशालाई दिप्तीको नामले पुकारेको रात 

तर एउटा सानो जुनकिरीले विशाल अन्धकार चिरिदिन्छ 

कुनै क्षणिक ग्रहणले सूर्यको शक्तिलाई झुठलाउन सक्तैन

उज्यालोले अँध्यारोलाई खेदन पर्दैन, आफैं पलायन हुन्छ

प्रश्न छन्, प्रशस्तै छन्, तर अन्योल पनि उत्तिकै छ – प्रश्नको प्रस्तुती कसरी गर्ने, के भनेर गर्ने, कुन सम्बोधनमा गर्ने।

विभिन्न शास्त्रका ज्ञांता त छ्यापछ्यापती छन्, प्रश्न झरिसक्नु अगावै जवाफका ताँती लाग्दछन, तर उत्तरको खडेरी नै छ। 

धेरै जवाफले पनि प्रश्नको उत्तर दिएन, प्रश्नको सम्बोधन नै भएन, प्रश्न यथास्थिती मा नै रह्यो, उत्तर साह्रै विरानो भयो। 

शास्त्रका गुरुहरुले आ-आफ्नै मनगढन्ते बुझाईका प्रश्नका उत्तर आफ्नै निम्ति मात्रै दिए, जिज्ञासुको प्रश्नको वास्तै रहेन। 

आ-आफ्नै जानकारीको कित्तामा रजाईं गर्दै शिक्षा दिने गुरुहरु त धेरै रहेछन, जिज्ञासुको प्रश्न सुनिदिने संकाय नै भेटिएन। 

जीवन कि जुनी? के? कसरी? कसले? (के ले?) किन? कसलाई? (के लाई?) कहाँबाट? के बाट? पहिले के? पछी के?  

प्रश्न कती कती, चित्तमा खती, अन्योलको ढेरमा द्रूत प्रगती, जिज्ञासुको मती गुरु खोज्न प्रती, गुरुको रोजाई सजीलो संगती।

घोत्लिएर विचारकले माथी तल हेरेछ, भित्र बाहिर, वरीपरी गहिरो विचार गरेछ, निष्पक्ष भई सोच्दैजाँदा धमिलोमा सोचेछ,

– ज्यामितीय आकाश, जीवनदायी पृथ्वी, स्थापित गर्ने योजना र सदा परिचालित राख्ने प्रक्रिया,कसैले कि केहिले गरेकैछ।

विचारकको जिज्ञासाको भतभती केही मन्थर पारेको यो सोचमा, उसले त्यो कोही कि केही लाई नामाकरण गर्न खोजेछ,

उसको यो सोचलाई नाम दिन उसैको मुखको स्वर चाहियो, अनि बोल्यो – यी मेरो स्वर – ईश्वर, विचारकको सृजना शब्द। 

सारा सृष्टिका कर्ताले विचारशील मानिसको सृष्टि गरे, त्यही विचारगुण प्रयोग गरी उनलाई चिन्नलाई आ-आफ्नै नाम दिए,

समयानुकुल, आवश्यकता अनुसार, अवस्था मुताविक, बुझाई बमोजिम, आफ्नै परिवेसमा कर्तालाई कृतिले धेरै नाम दिए। 

नाम मात्रै होइन, रुप, रङ्ग, आकार, प्रकार, पनि दिए; स्थान, परिधी, परिवेष, परिवार दिए; क्रोध, कृपाको भाव पोतिदिए,

कायरले भयङ्करको डरले भक्ति गरे, लालचीले दाताको भजनले चाप्लुसी भरे,नर र नारी, पिता र माता,अनेकन नाम दिए।  

विभिन्न ठाम, थरीथरी नाम, वैचारिक एकतामा फाटोको भयो काम; सारा सृष्टि जुटाउने कर्ताको नामाकरण कै कारण 

अदृश्य ईश्वरले जोडेको समाजमा धाँदो बन्यो, म र तँ को कित्ता छुट्टियो,नाम रचना नै बन्यो सामुहिक विभाजनको कारक।

प्राचिन प्रश्न जस्ताको तेस्तै छ, जहाँको तहीँ छ:

जीवन कि जुनी? के? कसरी? कसले? (के ले?) किन? कसलाई? (के लाई?) कहाँबाट? के बाट? पहिले के? पछी के?  

प्रश्न कती कती, चित्तमा खती, अन्योलको ढेरमा द्रूत प्रगती, जिज्ञासुको मती गुरु खोज्न प्रती, गुरुको रोजाई सजीलो संगती।

उत्तर खोज्ने विचारक ईश्वर नाममा रमाउन खोज्दै थियो तर तिनैलाई अनेक रुप-गुणमा बाँडेर समाज विभाजित भयो।

हरेक विभाजित समूहले आ-आफ्नो विशिष्टताको परिधी तोके, जुटाउने ईश्वरको मनगढन्ते नाममा फुटाउने गुट बन्यो,

हरेक गुटले आफ्नो निम्ति चुनिन्दा नाम राखे – फलानो धर्म, ढिस्कानो धर्म; संस्कारी शब्द “धर्म” को बदनाम भयो। 

धर्मको नाममा अधर्म, बिधर्म, कुधर्म, निधर्म, हलक्क मौलायो; बबुरो “धर्म” शब्दको मौलिक अर्थ नै विलीन भयो।

थरीथरीका विचारमा उभिएका धर्ममा ईश्वर त नारामा मात्र सीमित राखियो, सृष्टि-सर्जकलाई नै सृजितले स्थापना गर्यो,

जोरजाम गर्ने ईश्वरको वास्ता रहेन, गौण राखियो; विभाजन ल्याउने स्वार्थी धर्महरु हाबी भए, बलिया भए, धर्मले राज गर्यो।

ईश्वरको विचार बिलायो, धर्मको प्रचार फष्टायो, प्रचारमा बल आयो, व्यापार छिर्यो, छल घुस्यो, प्रहार भो; धर्मले युद्ध गर्यो।

उदार ईश्वरको नाम भजाएर अनुदार धर्मानुधारीहरुले निती-नियम बनाए, तीललाई ताल बनाई शास्त्रको ठेली बनाए,

धर्मको राज हुने पीठमा पीठाधीश बनाइए, निती-नियम पालन गराउने न्यायाधीश र शास्त्रको ठेली खोल्ने शास्त्री बनाए।

यसैले कालान्तरमा, धर्म-समुदायमा शक्ति संचय बढदै जाँदा, सत्य पन्छाइयो, शक्ति समाइयो, ईश्वर हराए, धर्म फहराए,

मानिसले ईश्वरको भ्रममा धर्मको झण्डा उचाले, धर्ममा नै आस्था राखे, स्वधर्मको अहंकारमा अधर्मको भारी मुन्तिर हराए। 

अझै पनि प्राचिन प्रश्न जस्ताको तेस्तै छ, जहाँको तहीँ छ:

जीवन कि जुनी? के? कसरी? कसले? (के ले?) किन? कसलाई? (के लाई?) कहाँबाट? के बाट? पहिले के? पछी के?
